Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Annual Fund important?

Giving to our school is an investment in your child’s education. The results from your gifts are immediate and visible. Your financial contributions support a child-centered atmosphere where children are nurtured and where their minds are challenged each day. Revenue from the Annual Fund allows our school to ensure affordable tuition with minimal increases.

Where does my donation go?

The Annual Fund provides the school with an unrestricted source of income earmarked for enriching programs at The Raleigh School. Your dollars help to provide:

  • Competitive salaries and benefits which help us to attract and retain the best teachers
  • Professional training and development for our faculty and staff
  • Small class sizes
  • Computer equipment
  • Family Science Night
  • Artist-in-residence performances such as the Gray Seal Puppets
  • Gardening projects including the tree on the preschool campus
  • Paved tricycle lot with awning for sun/heat protection
  • Maintenance of our 14-acre landscaped campus

Who should give to the Annual Fund?

We hope all current parents will contribute and this is encouraged through our goal of reaching 100% parent participation. Faculty and staff are also asked to show their support for our school by making a gift each year. We welcome gifts from grandparents, corporations, alumni parents, alumni and other friends of our community.

When should I contribute?

The Annual Fund is conducted during the school’s current fiscal year. It runs from July 1 – June 30. A pledge or gift may be made at anytime. Remember that gifts made on or before December 31st are eligible to be claimed as a current year tax deduction.

What is an acceptable amount to give?

Every gift makes a difference. We ask that you consider making a gift that is meaningful for you and your family. The Annual Fund drive asks you to include our school on your list of giving priorities, and to budget a gift to The Raleigh School each year.

How can I give?

A gift may be made by cash, check, with matching funds or appreciated securities. You might wish to make a pledge and make payments throughout the school year. Corporate matching funds will be credited to the donor parent, in effect doubling or tripling your total gift.

Are gifts to The Raleigh School and the Annual Fund deductible?

The Raleigh School is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. Contributions to the school are deductible as allowed by law. Because tuition payments are not deductible, the Annual Fund can provide a winning combination for many families. With your commitment to the Annual Fund you are helping to balance our school’s operating budget (which translates to more affordable tuition payments for all) with a gift that can then provide a tax-deduction for you.
