Community Events

Carnival

This annual community-building event is a long-held Raleigh School tradition and takes place each spring. The fun-filled day features arcade-type games, pony rides, inflatable rides, face painting, hair braiding, arts & craft tents, a talent show, ice cream, funnel cakes, pizza and more. It is a wonderful opportunity for school families and friends to enjoy the beautiful campus and spend time together. We also re-connect with our school alumni at the carnival. Our graduates love returning to the campus and seeing their former teachers as well as old friends. The alumni committee hosts a special homecoming celebration for graduates of The Raleigh School who are seniors in high school at the time of carnival. A parent volunteer carnival committee is responsible for the event which not only brings our extended community together, but raises funds for our school.

Multi-Cultural Feast

This is a whole school event organized by the diversity committee. This memorable evening features delicious food, fascinating stories, and lively music from around the world and allows us to celebrate the diversity of our Raleigh School families and friends. Families are encouraged to bring a dish or dessert to share which is representative of their cultural background. The evening includes time for sampling and socializing, along with the opportunity to hear diverse tales and songs from a regional storyteller.

Parent/Family Socials

Each year room parents organize parent and/or family socials that are often held at the beginning of the school year as well as the end. These relaxed gatherings are a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to get to know each other outside of the classroom environment. Families look forward to these events and the bonds that are formed over the years with one another. The school community is strengthened through the time families and parents share with one another at picnics, pot luck dinners, and other evening socials.

Family Science Night

This special event provides an opportunity for elementary school parents and children to engage in hands-on science activities that make science concepts not only educational, but fun! Interactive experiments may include:

  • Gummi Bear Long Jump
  • Build-A-Bug
  • Spaghetti Straw Towers
  • The Great Ketchup Caper
  • Operation Egg Drop

This wonderful learning experience is organized by our elementary school faculty team.

Thanksgiving Feasts

At the preschool the four year old classes traditionally have a Thanksgiving Feast. The children invite parents and family members to come and share food and take part in a brief program. The children sing songs and write about all that they are thankful for. It is a nice time for families to get together and it allows the children to share in the excitement of the season with others.
